Deployable Side Steps... Problem?

Hi All.

I have a MY11 L322 and it has deployable side steps. The manual says these deploy when unlocked, but mine dont, they only deploy when I open the door.

It isnt a great issue, but I am wondering if I have a fault, or need to configure them or this is just how they are.

Can anyone advise?

mine is a 07 and the steps deploy on unlock.

They deploy on unlock on my 2012 L322 as well as when the door is opened.

Mine deploy on unlock, then retract again after a minute if a door isn't opened. They also deploy when a door is opened or when the unlock button is pressed on the centre console.
