A wedding I attended a few years ago all cars had a yellow ribbon tied to the aerial - bit of a problem with modern cars.

Often drive from one side of Germany to the other on my trips back to the UK from Poland. Never had any issue with German roads or customs. I have had a couple of interesting experiences on the autobahns where a car has come behind me and the flashed their lights and pointed to the hard shoulder while brandishing something credit card size - probably supposed to be a "warrent" card. I have never stopped for them on the basis that even an unmarked police car will have somekind of blue light and siren and they never pull along side you so you can see the card they are holding and the clincher was when a marked police car was in front of me and when i moved out of my line and the car behind could see it they jumped on the brakes and dived for the exit. I came to the conclusion it was probably a scam to nick your car, wallet etc. Unless our German forum members tell me otherwise. 2008 TDV8 |
