New Car Dilema

I've been pondering the idea of a new (to me, not brand new!) car for a little while now but cannot for the life of me make up my mind what to do...

I've been looking at Aston Martin V8 Vantages on and off for a while.

I've come up with 3 ideas and can't figure out which one I prefer the idea of!!

1. Keep the current SC and get an Aston as a toy to run along side the RR.

2. Upgrade the current SC to a 2011-2012 L322 5.0 Autobiography then next year get an Aston.

3. Forget the Aston, and upgrade the current SC to a 5.0 Supercharged L405, possibly a 5.0 SC Sport or SVR.

The more I sit and think about it and look through Auto Trader the more confused I get! Rolling Eyes

Anybody got any thoughts or suggestions they can offer? Thumbs Up

Thanks!

I'm having exactly the same dilemma & am interested in what you decide, my thoughts are as follows:

1. A DBS would be a great toy, but I have a Jaguar XJRs that I've owned for 17 years and I get great fun out of that for very little cost.
2. I test drove a 2011 5.0 but it wasn't a big enough upgrade from my 4.2 for the money as the newest ones are 4 years old now, but then I saw a 65 plate the other day which made me think about trying to find an unregistered one.
3. The 5.0 L405s are reasonable money now, but the SVR looks mental & is very tempting so I'm hanging on until they drop a bit and avoiding driving one, as I think I would buy one as soon as I drive it.

Keep us posted.

Cliff

I've had multiple cars in the past & whilst nice in some ways, generally I'd rather just have one better one.

There is something very appealing about an Aston, but my money would be going on an SVR.

If you've not already seen it, this video might help Very Happy

Good point Craig, for that reason I tend to have a 24 hour test drive if I can, to see what a car is like to live with.

Interestingly my friendly Indy dealer doesn't think I will like the Sport, he says its for people who have only one car, whereas his customers who have more than one car prefer the full size for their daily driver.

Option 1 or 2.

You clearly have the bug for an Aston and I can't see that diminishing regardless of which RR you choose, so you've got to buy it.

I had a similar dilemma with my Mustang and sacrificed upgrading to a 5.0 SC to get it. Si. <This is my name.

Just drive them all, preferably for a few days but if that's not possible a few hours. Write down pros and cons and the very subjective"how do they make you feel" and would they be good to"live with" and then decide. It is likely to make things much cleare.

And get a L322 5.0 SC anyway they're brilliant😊 MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I had the AM V8 - both Coupe and Convertible.

Then a DBS.

Go for the SVR - it is the best of both worlds. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

Laughing Enjoy it!

I was sitting in Glasgow the other day and heard something burbling down the street, I turned around there was an SVR in that SVR only blue, it was lovely.

The wife to be and I had a trip to Aston Martin in Edinburgh today to have a look at a few V8 Vantages. They just so happened to have a DB11 sitting in the showroom which looked stunning, however, I'm not looking to spend anything like that kinda money! so we had a look at the V8 Vantages, they had a nice 7k mile car that was Titanium Silver but it had blue leather in it.

She ruled with an iron fist...

They had 3 cars I quite liked, silver with blue leather - no, merlot red with two tone chocolate and champagne truffle leather - no, and a volcano red car with chocolate leather - no...

I was sitting with a million thoughts running through my head on the journey home this afternoon when she turned around and said "You've always wanted an Aston before you're 30, just go and buy one for gods sake"... So, whilst I've got her blessing I've decided that it's going to be an Aston.

The SVR or a 5.0 L405 can be the compromise if we ever need to get rid of the Aston.

I've been given permission for anything with black leather or phantom grey leather in Titanium Silver, Tungsten Silver, Marianna Blue and a couple of the other colours. Rolling Eyes

So, Aston shopping has begun Smile I've got a feeling it'll be a long wait though as I really want a fully loaded car spec wise and not many of them had all the toys thrown at them during the original order process.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Fuji White

I'm having a similar dilemma. I want to change my 07 SC up to a 5.0 SC I also want to replace the Merc CLK Conv which is going tomorrow. I'm thinking of spending about £35k for the 5.0. But i can Happily trade the SC in and buy a new 5.0, and not have a play thing. But I still want a nice play thing. (the one in the bed is good, but you can't really rag it on the M60 without getting arrested!!)
So i'm thinking £35k SC Autobiography, and an SL 55 AMG.
What do you reckon ?? Tony
