Mk4 SatNav

Just took a flyer and bought a MK4 satnav on ebay £50.00 way cheaper than it should have been but only problem was said to be not ejecting disc's properly.

Anyway I like a challenge and thought its probably a common fault so Google will help, some clever sod would have figured out a solution.

It would appear it is a common fault that they don't like ejecting disks but I fear mine is probably knackered, but on the off chance that someone can point me in the right direction, I ask for a few seconds of your time.

OK so currently have the mk3 all working fine.

The MK 4 has a disc in it, pop it in, the red light comes on but it doesn't do anything else, the red light flashes every now and then. I cant hear anything like you can on the MK 3.

Wont let me eject the disc. I have tried waiting 3 minuets holding the eject but nothing.

By the by the screen works and radio cd etc... but when pressing navigation it says "no CD please insert one?

Its probably knackered but thought I would put it out there!

tap it with a screwdriver handle when you're pressing the eject button.

I have the mk4 unit in mine. But it was stuck on " please wait a moment ". It also sounded very loud as the maps DVD was inserted.
There is a guy called Barris from Enfield www.carphonics.co.uk. He is a wizard at satnav systems. He is highly talked about on the bmw forums. That's how I know of him as I came from the bmw scene.
Turned out my DVD drive was kaput.

Have a read through his website.

If you get it fixed and want to sell the MK3, do post it here. I may be up for it Smile

By the sounds of it you need a new loading mechanism. You can either replace it yourself for £100 or get Barris to install a new driver for £130 with warranty.

Sorry I'm keeping my mk3
