Why do we do it to ourselves - dogs ! Again and Again.....

Well after losing both my parents last year and finding out SWMBO has breast cancer.....now last night my bloody big girl died Big Cry

Had 9 years of great fun and to say I am gutted is an understatement.

I am sure those of you with dogs understand

Thanks

Ross

p.s I fully expect the gearbox to go tomorrow

Cheers guys, I go through it almost annually with a horse or a lab, but she was special as she was 'mine', if that makes sense Thumbs Up

People sometimes wonder why our dogs take up so much of our lives, but the genuine love and affection that a dog gives you, without asking for much in return is priceless. As the saying goes, better to have loved and lost, than never have loved at all. It is so true of dogs.
Does not make it any easier when one leaves you, but would not have a home without dogs in it.

I know know how must feel, but as you know time helps. Got enemies? Good, you have stood up for something in your life.

Never regret growing old, it is a privilege denied to many.

Thanks Mark and all, no suffering, I took her to the vets last week for the first time in 9 years as she was 'out of sorts' all tests came back OK, and was told she may be stressed but you know your dog! She was OKish eating, drinking etc till last night and I got the LOOK!! Went peacefully in her sleep.

Had to dig a bloody big hole this morning though, she has pride of place in the pet graveyard in the garden Bow down

Sorry for your loss. I understand completely.

I hope your wife is OK.

We now do temp care for Guide Dogs. We get them after they have been trained and are awaiting a client or when a client goes on holiday and can't take the dog, e.g., overseas, or even when a puppy raiser goes on holiday and needs to kennel the dog temporarily.

Rather than go back to the Guide Dogs kennels, we'll take it. We get a new dog regularly, sometimes for only a few weeks, sometimes for months. We had one for about 10 months in 2 or 3 stints. We love labs, we got our first as a wedding present from a breeder back in 1970.

Doing temp care means we can go on holiday or away for the weekend without worrying about "our" dogs, they go back or to another temp carer.

Next Tuesday, we get our 19th guide dog, Sadie, who is awaiting to be matched to a client. Ron B. VK2OTC
