Freelander problem

Hi guys

I have a 2003 Freelander TD4 for the daily commute, on Friday it broke down. My diagnostic tool shows no pressure on the HP fuel rail (zero psi). LP side has about 40psi.

I am assuming it is either HP pump, pump regulator or HP fuel rail sensor.

Before I start buying parts, just wondering if anyone has come across this before?

I have checked connectors and cables and they are fine 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

I dont think the Pressure sensor is that much money compared to a recon pump and worth a shot as i think they are £40+

There was a revision to them as well as there is a little filter on them that can block.

Could also be worth checking resistance on it and see if its gone total open circuit... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

There is a known issue with the rail pressure sensor wiring, and a repair loom Thumbs Up

Cheapest and easiest place to start

Thanks guys

Mike - I have already checked the loom and I have continuity back to the ECU block connectors, also checked power at the HP sensor and have 12v

KP - yep priced the parts, been told best to go with genuine Bosch @ £80.

I am 90% sure it is the sensor not the HP pump.

Will go with that and see 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

It's a known issue of poor pin tension inside the connector, causing an open circuit issue, regardless of continuity back to the ECU Thumbs Up

Ah, thought is was just broken cables and corrosion in connectors. AA man did give the connectors a good wiggle while I cranked the engine and readings didn't change 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

The overlay harness is less than £40

That said, the PRV in the HPFP could be stuck open, allowing fuel to return straight back to the tank. Does it start with easy start?

eventually got this fixed. despite all my testing showing it was not the wiring to the HP sensor Mikey was correct Bow down . It turned out to be internal failure of the connector 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
