I'll start this one off -

Tar spot removal:

Having ran out if Tardis, this morning I've started eradicating the winter tar spots from the lower black painted trim panels with WD40 sprayed onto a microfibre cloth. It's quick, easy and very good (I first checked that the OCDs on the Detailing World Forum don't have any concerns about it being 'unsafe' for the paint).

Works on alloy wheels too

After useing wd40,would any wax products adhere to the car?

Personally I use a clay bar - no chemicals at all used on the paintwork and leaves the surface like glass.

A perfect material to then apply wax to your taste. I did this last summer all over the car (and then gave it a bit of extra treatment with a full 2 stage polish as well with ultra fine 3m polish but then finished off with a coat of G-technic EXO v2.)

The EXO goes on like water and you quickly buff off but it leaves an extra hard coating over the top of the paint, is hydroscopic (so sheds water very well) and now, 9 months on, only takes me half an hour to wash the car including hand dry with microfibre cloths. (in fact I just did it this morning ) Ash

Have got Bilt Hamber clay but tried WD40 today as claying always takes me ages and just wanted to try WD on the lower trip panels.

The lower trim panels I used WD40 on are plastic of course. AG SRP then applied to the trim panels and appeared to do exactly what it normally does.

And WD40 is superb at easily removing tar spots from the RR unpainted plastics such as mudflaps and under the rear bumper

you dont need to spend fortunes on stuff and ive detailed for years a clay mitt are good as well with a spray wax i used simoniz detail spray then a hand mop/buffer from halfords, but each week i give it a quick polish with the williams all in one spray polish off qvc, and also keep it washed clean,once youve got it mint its a lot easier keeping it clean trust me and then a quick hose off with a mitt with a mix of soap and a small squirt of fairy non bio in the bucket gives a beaut silky finish then quick buff  _____________________________________________________
