For anyone in need of persuasion, here are some pics for you. Here's my current set-up with a pair of 80 Series Lamps:

This is what they can achieve (one spot, one drive). These photos are completely unaltered and with identical settings. For comparison, my D3 has the full xenon adaptive lighting system which already produces a total of ~9400 raw lumens:

I know what you mean Stan, though I think they'd look good. The smaller XTs might be less imposing. For anyone that really wants better throw, they can deliver what no bulb upgrade can.

I'm not really expecting a huge market for driving lamps here anyway - but maybe there'll be some interest in bulbs. Shame wipers aren't available for the L322, but I believe they are for the L405.

More info now added on Disco3 including bulb and wiper prices.

Some applicable bulbs for the L322 here (prices per pair):

Main beam (+ main/dip if halogen) and 02-05 Fogs:

    H7 - Night Tech - £25.25 - RRP £35.80
    H7 - Xtreme White Plus - £42.70 - RRP £59.27

    Front fogs (06-onwards):

    H11 - Night Tech - £28.25 - RRP £39.91
    H11 - Xtreme White Plus - £49.35 - RRP £68.44

Cornering lamps (up to 09 only):

H8 35=70W - Xtreme White - £64.50 - RRP £89.42 (Please note, these ones are not E-marked for road use)

More fitments listed on Disco3. None of the bulbs are applicable to the L405 since all those are HID or LED.

With the wipers, the story is the opposite and they're listed only for the L405 (prices per pair):

"Super Silicone" - Conventional framed type - £31.35 - RRP £44.23
"Sporza" - Framed with spoiler - £40.25 - RRP £55.85
"Silicone-Tech" Flat type - £37.85 - RRP £52.51

I have been informed that the framed types offer the best performance.

The horns are doing well, and I expect the lower price of £28 to be reached soon if anyone would like a simple little updgrade.

I'll add a sign-up here for anyone who wants bulbs/wipers, but please use Disco3 for lamps/horns to keep the numbers clear.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Oh I don't know Stan. The smaller ones (I believe) are what LR used in their genuine kits and I quite fancy those. The kit is now obsolete sadly, and I never found a kit for 2010 > cars either, but I did like the look of them. Has to be the genuine bumper mounts though, not the hideous 'A' bar.

^^^^Yes, sort of, but I think you're thinking of the older style. The XTs are OE equipment for the Disco4 and Defender, introduced around 2010, rather than the older style that was offered for the D3 and FFRR, so they would have been offered for the facelift, but presumably LR didn't see the market.

Pic of the XTs below (thanks to MartinK on Defender2):

Can I persuade you, Dom? Whistle We need 5 pairs of lamps to get the lower price - there's tayaste and me, plus one maybe so far...

Well I would but the pre-facelift LR brackets won't fit mine. I really don't like the generic brackets so can't see I would ever fit them.

Actually, possibly. I would love to do something with SWMBO's Jaguar XF. It doesn't have the HID units, just the projectors with halogen for low and reflectors with halogen for high. Both use H7 bulbs

I hate aftermarket HID kits, most of which are illegal anyway but I have been considering LEDs. I think the position of the actual LED is critical though to maintain the beam pattern and I really need higher output than the halogen 55w candles. Probably 100w equivalent

Any suggestions?

As far as LEDs in a halogen reflector goes, it's not physically possible to place the LEDs in the perfect position - there are basically two issues, the first is the size of the LED; even the small ones are bigger than a filament, so they cause extra scatter, but what multiplies the problem is that they cannot be placed in on the focal point because they must be mounted on something. You can see the issue below:

For these reasons, I don't recommend an LED retrofit. The best bulbs I can offer in an H7 fitment are the Xtreme White Plus ones. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Bump. No takers for some bulbs? If anyone is pondering, then best to decide by Sunday to guarentee it would be do-able. Only one more needed for horns. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
