Paint Protection Film

I am considering ordering a MY17 for delivery in September in Mariana black. My experience, and also that of the detailer I use, is that these paint finishes are extremely soft and mark very easily.

I have had Barolo black and you just need to look at it to mark it. Big Cry In addition the plastic on the rear pillars scratches very easily.

I have seen videos on YouTube of cars being detailed and then wrapped in the clear film.

Has anybody had any experience or knowledge of this?

Thumbs Up

If you get the shiny finish it's more easily scratched than the paint, if you get the harder wearing satin it just looks like a gangster wrap...

Just drive it and enjoy it, it will get chips and scratches, every car does, don't worry about it and let it take away the enjoyment of a new car, anything can be repaired or fixed, if it gets so bad it annoys you then just get it sorted.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

I so wish I didn't give a f**k but I have serious mental anguish when it gets damaged. I don't mind dirt or mud and it can be filthy but scratches, oh no Censored They are never the same when painted.

The closest thing my RR gets to off roading are the speed bumps in John Lewis car park.

You lot are not much help Big Cry

I have Mariana Black and I don't find it scratches any more easily than any other paint I have had.

Having said that I would consider paint protection film on my next one because I suffer from OCD when it comes to cars too. Laughing

I plan to give it a go first on another car I will be getting. If it stops the stone chips then I think it is well worth it.

At last somebody who recognises a fellow sufferer Thumbs Up

Miglior Detailing in Blackburn went through some paint softness comparisons with some other marques with me. I hate seeing the swirls and I want to retain that brand new wet look finish.

I'm a fellow sufferer of the same OCD D3rm0

I've had sections protected on my BMW and it seems to be doing the job so far. What I have is basically a clear film so that will take light scratches only .... Can't say yet if it's worth it as its still too early to tell 2015 SDV8 Autobiography - Black, Cirrus, 22" Style 707 Wheels

I've got a strip of clear film on the boot where the two halves close and unless you are looking for it you wouldn't know it's there ,I did talk to a vinyl place about getting one of my other cars wrapped in clear to stop stone chips and he pointed out that it may stop them but once it pierces the film it really stands out and the whole panel would need redoing L322 2008 vogue
