I guess being 2004 you have the BMW system in which case you need the hybrid tuner from the E39 5 Series / E53 X5 / E83 X3 / 3 series E46 I think.

Great, that makes it deffo the BMW system. Should be a straight swap for the analogue unit.

If you do an eBay search for 'BMW hybrid tv tuner' or 'digital tv' you'll find some. They are usually £250 to £350 ish. Be careful and don't be tempted by cheap ones; they'll be analogue like your tuner but the sellers might not make that clear.... |
