2007 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Java Black
I need help deciding!

Ok at first I started looking at 4.2 SC for around 12-1700k I have got 14 k cash the rest will be via a loan. The big question is do I just get a 4.2 2007-2008 or get some more money and go for the 5.0L?

I prefer the look of the 5.0L but I don't know if the 4.2 is more proven for reliability and maintenance etc, there seems to be a lot more things to go wrong down the line with the 5.0 like the LED dash. Big Cry

Im not worried about the performance TBH, id imagine the 5.0 at 22-27k will depreciate a lot in the coming years where as a 2007-2008 will probably start to slow down a bit now.

I think there's two points you'll need to consider;

1) How long are you keeping it for?
2) What are you using it for?
If at least 3 years, depreciation on either won't be a massively relevant point.

If it were me with £14k cash, I would personally buy a 2006 4.2SC pre tax increase with circa 60-80k miles and have it facelifted to the 2010 look. You wouldn't need a loan, have a great car, and if a large repair bill were ever needed, you'd be in a much stronger place to sort it.

I ran a 2005 4.2 from 80k to 121k miles in 2011/2012 and all it ever needed was regular service items and brake pads. I've always regarded the 4.2 as a very strong engine, and the 6 speed gearbox is pretty good too.

If you like silver with a black interior, there's always this one which sounds kind of like what Josh is suggesting Thumbs Up
