Minor change, big improvement IMO

I don't use the front cigarette socket much for anything else than to plug in a small USB socket. Lately I noticed the sigarette socket came partly out when I remove the USB socket. I always remove the USB socket when I don't use it because I don't like the look of it.

So I decided to fit a perment USB socket in there. (something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Dual-USB-Car-C...1367336173)

It was an almost perfect fit (had to make the original hole for the socket a little bit bigger).

This was the result:

looks good but not sure i like the blue lights, is it not distracting at night, would have been better with orange lights to match everything else.

Not sure about the built in current convertor.... Maybe eBay page will tell you more about that...

Agree on the blue lights. The one eBay page mentioned before has less blue, since it doesn't have the blue lighted ring.
They are not to distracting at night though. But if i could swap for orange/white/green I would. 2002 L322 V8

Is yours a permanent socket or one where it has an almost-flush push in adaptor like this:- ?

can you remove the original socket easily?
i'm asking because the one in my dad's td6 is corroded and needs to be replaced.
(he accidentally had the sunroof open some times when we had rain in summer Sad )

the corrosion was the fault of battery drain, we thought it was the havac unit Laughing

Very easy.
Only 2 small screws hold in place. You can swap it for a usb one or just put a new one in place:

not sure what you're talking about... Did you remove the complete cigarette socket by the two screws from the underside? I had to widen the hole for the USB socket to fit. 2002 L322 V8
