I was confused for a minute trying to understand what new Rugby Football Rules had to do with drivers. |

So if I buy a 2012 registered 5.0 s/c L322, which is what I'm looking for at the mo, from 2017 it costs me £140 per annum to tax. Best I get one found then, before the price goes up! |

As far as I am aware the rules only apply to cars that are registered in or after 2017, the new rules don't apply to cars that are already registered.

^wot he said, only applies to cars registered aged 2017, so current cars will still pay ££££ per annum for rfl.

That is so complicated that I can't work out if it will encourage people to keep driving older (more polluting) cars, or go for a new one. Talk about over-engineering it. |

For buyers who purchase a 2017+ "pre-loved" car in the future the max they will pay is £140 a year... This is great. Previously..

As long as it didn't cost over £40k, as they attract a levy of additional £310 extra tax per year for the first 5 years.

^ There are lots of people buying 5 year old cars.... Going forward, it's good to know road tax won't be an obstacle in buying one. Previously..

I could be dead by then !! And the car would be 5 years old and thus out of warranty. |
