Violent wheel wobble when cornering at speed!!

Normal bend on dual carriage way at 70-80 and got a violent wheel wobble. Backed of throttle and stopped??

Seemed to be when weight transfered to front left?

Also been getting susp inactive fault recently??

Any ideas? Would poor wheel balancing get a voilent wheel wobble or not??

Would have thought as the weight lifted off the front right it was then free to have a wobble so maybe start there.

Not as easy as you think getting 24" alloys balanced. Went into kwikfit and they said they wouldn't fit the machine and recomended going to a lorry place! Not sure if i want to leave my wheels/car with a lorry place!!

After a quick google steering dampner came up? Is this a possibility or servo tronic valve.

It was a very violent wheel wobble. Felt like wheel may fall off!!

Perhaps your suspension doesnt like having bigger wheels than it was designed to have with a rubber band as a tyre?

If they are very low profile then you could have damaged the wheel bearings...

I was thinking some sort of steering bush/rubber thats worn out as dosn't happen when cornering the other way eg transferring weight to drivers side. The large wheels may have accelarated issue but i still need to fix. Thers lots of RR running around on 22's with similar profile tyres!

There are two arms on each side at the bottom of the suspension which have rubber bushes. The bushes can be replaced but LR always tell you they are on back order, usually about 6 weeks, therefore the only other option is to buy complete arms.

thanks. very useful diagram. Think booking it in for inspection is way forward.

Think wheels are true. I suspose swopping sides would eliminate this?

Go one better chuck it on the rear opposite side just to eliminate it if nothing else. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Also get your steering control arms checked out. My drivers side was knackered (dangerous! according to tame mechanic). Caused violent wheel wobble / vibration at speed (German motorway) and when accelerating hard / up an incline. Other sign is having to hold steering wheel off centre to go straight. @ £70 fitted a side. .

Runs fairly true in straight line but guess getting suspension checked is best course of action.

I only get issue when turning towards right hence putting pressue on feft front side.

Although saying that do have wheel wobble (minimal and nothing like violent vibration discussed) when between speeds of 70-80mph.
