Tyre porn....... or.... I've got a Big horn..!!!

In October 2014 I fitted a new set of 275/65/18 General Grabber A/T2, well about 17,000miles later the rears were just about shot but the front two had 9mm of tread left!!!

I'm not going to be doing so much motorway cruising now so decided to get some proper off road rubber...

There isn't too much choice in this size and the decision was pretty easy when a mate who works in the industry got me 4 Maxxis Bighorn 762's (where do they get these names!!!!) for £478 fitted, a total bargain especially as these are LT275/65/18, they are 10ply Light Truck tyres and are about 15kg heavier per tyre than the A/T's... I had a set of these some years ago on another off roader and had trouble wearing them out or damaging them, they are real tough....

The GG's were very good when they were new but as they have worn they have picked up lots of sidewall cuts and the rears have suffered from numerous punctures that looked more like splits than conventional punctures... They were good offroad for AT's, they were also starting to get noisy as they wore...

The Maxxis are slightly louder than the GG's but not as bad as the Goodyear MTR's I had on last year...

Not tried them out on anything but tarmac and they are fine for what they are, nice and comfy with the large sidewall and fine unless you want to go racing....

New and old...

That looks better...

Going to give it a wash tomorrow and it's not even it's birthday....

They don't half look like a Cooper STT, I thought that they were until you said about your BigHorn, Matron Wink
I hope that they perform as well as the Cooper's, and may I say dam fine price too Thumbs Up
