Looking to Buy A 3.6 TDV8 - Advice Sought

Gents,

I am looking to buy my wife a 07-09 TDV8 as a stop gap until good 4.4's become more affordable.

Consequently, I am looking to buy a good clean car that I can get out of quickly.

To that end, I am considering a few cars that are around 100-125K miles and finished in Black, Grey or Navy Blue.

Is there a tipping point for mileage where cars become difficult to move on?

I assume Black is the most popular resale colour? Are Grey or Blue cars any harder to sell?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Rog

Personally I'd never buy a black car, they only look clean for 25 seconds....

I'd buy the nicest I could find.... Pete

I wouldn't look at the mileage, just get the cleanest one you can. Also, get a high miles one it will be more "price rangey" (see what I did there) for more folks come selling time.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zermatt Silver

My silver 07 is currently for sale on here , 86k miles £12,900

personally I would not go for black, they show every mark and will depress you everytime you wash it. I always try to get silver as its the best colour for cleanliness and not showing any marks or stonechips

Scotland 2009 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Mariana Black

My black 09 Westminster is a joy to drive and has been amazing ...it has 110k on the clock now and it doesn't worry me in the slightest...modern engines last much longer the old high mileage thing is defunct imo and with proper service history and pre-emptive repairs they last just fine.

Oh and yes there is no denying that in winter black gets dirty fast but I find with meguirs wax and an electric polisher ...once I have done the whole car it just needs a wax shampoo rinse and its gleaming again so all good Cool 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts

100k seems to have always been the significant milage line...

As said above, i would either find a super condition low milage example or lower priced higher milage car but make sure the history reads well Thumbs Up

Wasted 100 mile trip.
Just been to Huddersfield and back, round trip of 110 miles to look at a 2007 plate, LOW milage ( 56,000 on advert ) TDv8.
What a crock of the brown stuff. Fair amount of corrosion to the rear wheel arches, condensation in headlights, paint work littered with fine scratches that no doubt would reveal primer if you tried to polish them out.
Not only that but I ran an MOT check once I got there and it has actually done 57,414 miles.

Didn't even get to speak to sales staff, just turned and walked away. Probably good that I did as my mouth might have run away and caused bother.

I have had 4 ff now and traded in the previous 3 when they passed 100k, but checking on the mot website I notice that they are all still running with 2 200k plus.
Says something for regular servicing.

Certainly does.
Started looking at the TDv8 because I just can't find the right priced, right mileage Super charged for LPG conversion. However, a day on the internet has left me even more bewildered over the TDv8 and its turbo problems. Seen some real horror stories re cost of repairs, difficulty of the job, cost of egr replacement .

Body off seems extreme to replace a turbo !!

body off is for the sport, the FF doesn't have body which comes off Thumbs Up it is a monocoque with separate front and rear subframes. The sport is a rolling chassis with the mechanicals and a separate body which can be lifted clear in its entirety.

If you have been reading body off stories you have most likely been looking at TDV8 spurts which have thrown a wobbler.

The FF is much less prone to lunching its turbos, yes it happens and there are several examples on this forum of folks who have had theirs go pop, but it is much less an occurrence than with the sport, as there are those who have had failures there are many owners of 100K + TDV8 cars which are purring along quite happily. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
