BUSHES BAR TWIST

Hi everyone, I have seen that in the front torsion bar, there are two rubber bushings that are ruined, exist as parts, maybe more resistant?

The grommets are these, just I do not find them specific to L322

Hi, I think that you are looking for ANTI ROLL BAR bushes Thumbs Up

Land Rover do not supply these without the anti roll bar, and so they are very hard to buy with out the bar Sad

But all is not lost, as you can get these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/range-rover-l322...Sw3ydVguWB I don't know how hard they are to put in, but they say that they are for the ffrr, plus being made of polyurethane they will last a lot longer Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Actually JLR do sell them now without the bar, I have a pair in the garage... Ask Dan, not too much money and they are polyurethane...!!!

Thought mine were knocking but they were fine with no wear at 140,000miles, turned out to be missing washers on the drop links... Pete

Hi Guys,

Has anybody replaced their sway bar bushings (front & rear)?

What was the process? Do you still have to remove the bars to fit them? Or can you replace the bushings with the bar loose but still on?

I am not hearing any clunking sound, however I feel a lot of roll (left to right). I just did the front upper & lower control arms, ball joints, and links. I also replaced the rear upper and lower control arm bushings. I assume the roll is due to bad sway bar bushings, but I did not notice any visible signs when looking at them.

Please help.

You have to remember it's 2 1/2 tons on long travel suspension, they do roll,

Worn anti roll bar bushes will knock on cornering, even when totally worn out they will only let you roll a tad more than normal...

Get someone to go over the whole front and rear suspension, I know the heat out there does effect all the rubber far more than it does over here... If you have original shock absorbers all round they will be well past their best now, I changed my rears a while back with genuine replacements and it made a massive difference...

You just need someone with some knowledge of the FF to check where your problem is... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks Pete. Yes, that is very true and I have only had it for about two months and have never driven one prior to this. I am in the process of overhauling the suspension as I would like it to feel as if it just drove off the lot. The truck has 135K miles. The front air shocks/struts were changed by the dealer 8 years ago at 90K miles. The rear air shocks & struts were never changed.

I just replaced the front upper & lower control arms, links, and ball joints (forgot the outer tie rod ends http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/QJB500050, just ordered them) as well as rear upper and lower control arm bushings (forgot rear stabilizer links http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/RGD500180 and sway bar links http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/LR030048 , just ordered them).

Is it possible that the three above items are contributing to the roll/lean? I would have thought the front stabilizer links would have corrected it, but then again this might just be normal and I need to get used to it.

The sway bars look like a real pain to change and I would rather not do it unless absolutely necessary.

I would like to do the rear upper and lower control arms and struts, however I may just wait until it is time to do the rear air shocks. Still debating.

Do you think its a good idea to replace the front struts considering its been 8 years and 45K miles? Given that the rear struts are original I would assume its time.

Craig, I was under the impression that as long as the air shocks did not leak that they were ok. Are you saying that the actual performance of the suspension can be affected by the age of the air shock? Does it get softer or something and sway more?

I was going to change the struts as I realize 135K miles and 13 years must have taken a toll on the performance, but I was hoping to put off the air shocks until I noticed a leak. Are you thinking I should just change the air shocks as a preventative measure? Are they supposed to be changed in conjunction with the struts?
