Soggy Wheel Well

It Truly is a well Very Happy Very Happy The underneath of my boot floor is mouldy. I have searched the forums and obviously it seems to be a seal issue.

The only thing is the bits of the seal I can see look fine. I fitted a two bar in July when I got it. Could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks

Kev

I thought my seal was fine, looked like new, but it wasn't. New seal fixed the problem, no more leaks..

you dont look at the outer part of the seal, its the inner part where it clamps over the body shell lip, if you look around the edge you will see what look like swollen areas if its toast, hope that makes sense

I would say it's your tow bar fitment , my boot filled up under the EAS compressor after I fitted the OEM westfalia bar.
I covered the problem on another forum. Mine was a leak along the top edge where the two plates bolt to the back panel. The brackets curl over the top of the panel and channel all the water from either side of the tailgate onto the area.
The crappy thin gasket isn't worth a light and even when I placed thick sealer strip on both faces of the bracket it still leaked.
If you want to test the theory squirt a hose behind that lip
I temporarily wiped a thick layer of grease along the top edge and when I was satisfied I had no more leaks I replaced the grease with a thick layer of paint on seam sealer.
You could just go straight for the sealer
Or it could be your tailgate seal ...
Bit cheeky but here's the link to the competition
