Hi Frank, the official JLR figures are 4.5 (SVR) and 5.1 (405 S/C) 0-60mph. But then they sometimes tell lies! Laughing Taking a serious look at the Ford Mustang at the mo.....1 year waiting list though Mad SDV8 AB MY 2019

Basically if they are owned by a business and used by the business you can expense them at a rapid rate.

However, I deleted that part but I don't think you have changed my image of a car from a prius, smartcar, jaguar etc

Mick,

The 5.0 L322 is sublime. It's SO much better than the 4.2, and I have even driven your old one!

It's smoother, quieter and SO much quicker.

I do about 25K a year on average and the RR is without shadow the best car to do it in, it's SUCH an amazing engine combo. If I could afford to do what Frank's done, I would.

Mick, the only issues with the 5.0 is the timing chain can rattle “like a pig!” if its damaged/stretched...

I do very low miles a year in my FF but opted for the 4.4 as the 8sp box is sublime! Worth driving the pair first and see which one suits your purpose sir Thumbs Up

Well i am lucky if i do more than 20 miles a week thats why i have been looking at the 5.0 instead of the 4.4 TDV8 ...

So i have basically got it down to 5 vehicles

Have spent 2 weeks looking on AT at them all , and every now and again i diversify onto other Marques ... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Shocked

Thanks for all the input so far gents ... Thumbs Up

As above the 5.0 is the way to go for one simple reason.
There are less pets under the bonnet.

The 4.4 has
2 turbos
2 egr's
2 egr coolers
A dpf
An intercooler
Enough piping to confuse a plumber
Enough sensors to make the space shuttle look basic
One recall already requiring the dealers to drill and tap into the engine block

I've driven both engines back to back on the same day and albeit in a brand new 405 for a few hours each and it's set my mind to the 5.0 for a later l322 or 405 should I be lucky enough one day.

Only downside is loss of park heat if it wasn't optioned on the car when new but then a v8 petrol doesn't take long to warm up now does it... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Will, i can see your argument with the 405 and i agree its a no brainer... the 5.0 8sp all day long!

BUT, the 322 5.0 has the somewhat limp 6sp gearbox whereas the 4.4 has the silky 8sp and that is what made the difference when i purchased my 12my...

Drive a 5.0 & 4.4TDV8 322 back to back and i think the gearbox shows......... Neutral

Nothing limp about the 6HP28 Craig. A damn fine gearbox, certainly improved vastly over the 6HP26. More robust, smoother changes, no 1st gear shunt and it keeps the revs on the petrol where they should be, i.e. above 1400.

The 8 speed is a damn fine box, especially for a log burner with a much more restricted rev range but it's fussy on the petrol, never quite sure which gear it wants to be in. My Merc E500 with the 7 speed was just the same. Too many gears for a free revving engine. Thumbs Up
