Facelift?

OK, apologies for asking this again, but it's a slightly different question.

Having gotten the 911 bug out of my system for a while, I've decided to order a new L405. My question is, do I order now (will that ensure that I get any spec updates for this calendar year) or is there a mid-year spec upgrade around the corner?

Separately, whilst I say I have gotten the 911 bug out of my system, I am now tempted by the idea of opting for a SC rather than the 4.4. By my reckoning it'd increase my fuel bill by around £100 per month, which isn't too drastic for a 5 litre V8. Daft idea or not (when I test drove the 4.4 recently I thought it was the 3.0 - it just didn't seem to have the same torque shove as my 322)?

There's going to be a facelift - but how long are you prepared to wait ?

For obvious reasons, they try to keep it quiet

How long is the waiting list for a new one ? That's usually a good indicator - if there's still a healthy wait, then they may lave it a while - if they are running down the backlog, then they may do it sooner.

If you're not in a huge hurry, then maybe talk to your dealer and put a deposit to be top of the queue for the facelift - but it could be a year away Whistle

Lack of any information on any 16.5 MY updates leads me to suspect a more major 17 update is in the offing.

My dealer did say that it will be this year for the facelift. The only cars that will be harmed imho are those bought close to the date of the facelift, for no other reason than if you were looking to buy, say a 2016 plate car in eighteen months time you'd need to get a decent price incentive not to go for the face-lift spec.

If you heart says SC ( don't blame you) then let your head rest easy by buying nearly new as you'll save 20k on the new price and shelter yourself come trade in time too.

The 2015.5MY updates were announced in Nov 2014 with production starting in January 2015.

We haven't heard anything about 2016.5MY yet.

Is it too late to introduce a 16.5MY?

Personally I'd be happy if they do get rid of the fake grills. Little other change outside is no real surprise (we'll see if LED headlights make an appearance). Here's hoping for trickle down interior technology appear from the jaguar models.

They are not the headlights which will be in production post facelift. I can almost guarantee that there will be LED lights. I'd hope for laser but LR are consistently behind other manufacturers.

They are the current headlights with the new grille which explains the mismatch. The new ones with have the dual triangle shape cameras above the rain sensor a la Evoque and Disco Sport.

Looks like they have got rid of the side vents!!! Surely this is an iconic Range Rover styling feature now! I would hate to see them go!
