2003 TD6 hunting slighty on tickover

Was queuing last night for fuel and turned the radio off and the heater off and listened to the engine and it sounded like it was hunting ever-so slightly, just enough for the rev counter needle to visably move. You had to listen for it, just wondering if this is normal?

She only does maybe 100 miles a month (10 trips of 10 miles) so doesnt do many long journeys, just never noticed it before

Hi Stan

It was hunting while I was queuing to fill up, but was still between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank. Filled her to the brim, and still hunting a little. Am due to change the fuel filter this weekend so could it be that?
