The quote button is useful from a couple of points. It saves retyping the relevant passage and it distinguishes readily the quoted part. Makes it more readable. Removing it makes it less readable IMO.

Perhaps I should have added that the button makes it easier. John

I think it's best to have the button. I'm quite able to do it manually, but for others it's not so natural, but aside from that, a key benefit to the use of the button is that emoticons are transferred correctly, so there is no tidying to be done by the poster (particularly if it's a long quote) - not always important, but having, for example "Thumbs Up Evil or Very Mad Rolling with laughter" left as-is in quotes can sometimes make them a pain to read if they're within the text. Just my thinking. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I miss the "quote" button, and wonder if there is a practical reason for it's omission, I do hope that it hasn't been converted into the the new "stars"feature for ipad

The intention is to prevent unnecessary quotes, not all quotes (I assume).

I think the q button is very useful but assume there must be a good reason for its proposed removal.
