Spare engine wires 4.4 V8 M62

Hi Guys,

Whilst I was replacing the thermostat today I noticed that there were two wires which appeared to have been cut at some point and I was wondering if they should go somewhere or they are just spares?

I've looked on RAVE but cannot figure that out!

They are on the o/s and form part of the loom that also has wires going to the VANOS and the water probe.

Any ideas?

TIA

regards

John

would have thought they would original had some sort of connector on the end, pretty sure that even LR would have put something there. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

What are the colours as it's difficult to make out exactly? There is a standard as to what colour wires should be for what job although it's not foolproof.
Looks like Red/White and Blue/Yellow?
Red/White would be a feed from the side light fuse.
Blue/Yellow is between driving light switch and lamp.
In which case it was probably for extra lights that have since been removed.

I would check that the Red/White wire is not still live when the side lights are on and if so tape it up.

Thanks for the reply! Thumbs Up

Yes, they are red/white and yellow/blue. I'll check the feed to see if it live but I'll tape them anyway and look for any suggestion of Aux lights!

from what I can see, you are looking at the fuel rail, on the left side, there are wires in a rubber sheath that form part of the injection loom. and there are a few plug sensors in that area. I cant go outside till weekend as too dark etc, so replying here, to bookmark. -has your car got LPG?
I don't think its lights though.

Hi Johnboy,

Yes, that is exactly right (its one of about 5 pairs of wires coming out of the loom at that point) and it is also right that my car has LPG. I'm not sure if there was some 'work' undertaken on the front end at some point and some wires were cut (as the thermostat plug is one that wasn't fitted at the factory!! Shocked) and therefore someone may have 'forgotten' to rewire a sensor? I may be well off the mark but any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

John

I also have lpg, if I remember, I will look at weekend. the normal fitment of lpg, involves interrupting, the injector wires. you leave then connected. as you can run the car still on petrol. these are then switched off when you run on LPG. but these wires could be extra wires from the LPG brain. (lpg ecu) mine is screwed in under the ecu box lid. these might trace back to ecu box. (square-ish black cover to left of engine) they might be extra temp sensor wires.

as others suggest, you should at least tape them for now.
