FF Vogue Low Ratio Light Comes On when I select Sport Mode

Driving my 2003 3.0 TD Vogue today when I noticed the low ratio light was illuminated when I selected sport mode on the gearbox.

I have checked the codes and they appear to be clear, there was one fault that related to "Noise in the actuator signal" or something like that.

I have tried putting the vehicle into low ratio and it goes in and out without problem however the low ratio light doesn't come on, infact neither does the hill decent one when I tried also.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just been giving this a lttle more thought, I believe the low ratio sensor that activates the dashboard light might be sticking, does any one know where the sensor or connector is?

I had the exact same problem, only a couple of months ago. Faultmate didnt register any faults. In the end, I disconnected the battery to do a full system re-boot, when the system came back to life the fault had gone, it hasn't come back.

I had been doing work on my car prior to the problem appearing tha necessitated battery disconnection, I figured that maybe i got some sort of software 'glitch' when reconnecting.

Hi Al
Maybe ten minutes, pos and neg leads shorted together just to make sure everything was dead.

Paul, no joy I'm afraid! I disconnected the battery and left it for an hour and still the same problem. I didnt strap pos to neg to short them but I believe everything was dead, I had to reset the clock, date etc

Back to the drawing board

Al
