I am going to take the plunge and buy a nearly new 14/15 L405

What spec and features are most desirable? I am the sort that likes all the gadgets etc
I had the 3.6tdv8 in my sport and loved it, so thinking the 4.4 will be even better? Especially towing the caravan.

Go for a SDV8 Autobiography

There are a few 64 plate SDV8 Autobiography's on AT & LR approved arround the £74k+ mark. Great saving IMO 2014 SDV8 Autobiography

If power is your thing go for the Sdv8, it's a great engine just not as refined or economical as the V6. That said the SC is a great money no consideration choice.

I too like toys and have had the AB and VSE in the L405. I now have the VSE and for me it's just about perfect as it has almost everything I'd want in the car.

The AB is finished with more leather on the dash and headlining, has illuminated tread plates, massage front seats, parking heater, blind spot monitoring and 21 inch wheels as standard. Personally I can live without those things as I very rarely used them. I did pick a VSE with blind spot and 21 s as I like those but it's horses for courses and I certainly wouldn't rule out going for an AB next time but it depends on what's out there next time I change.

The AB spec as standard comes with:

21" wheels, pano roof, 4 zone climate, front & rear winged headrests, remote park heat, blind spot monitoring& reverse traffic detection, surround camera system, front fog lamps & illuminated AB tread plates. 2014 SDV8 Autobiography

Yep, forgot about those other bits....... The VSE now comes with a pano roof but you'll find a big proportion of used ones have the roof, fog-lights and Blindspot fitted as extras as did mine.

If you need or would just like the other bits then the AB is the way to go.
