New purchase advice

We've decided to replace our 55 plate SE which we've happily owned for 6yrs.

Found an MY10 AB and put a depo on it yesterday. The dealer rang my wife today to go through a few things. She asked if he found the fob for the pre heater, only to be told the car doesn't have one and 'the girl who uploaded the details online typed pre heater instead of aux heater'!!

We had also asked if the chrome side bars can be swapped for our side steps and he told my wife that he's found out that the brackets are not located in the same place and they cannot be swapped.

I'm going to call them back tomorrow but could anyone tell me can the aux heater be changed to a pre heater? Is this just a software update and a new fob?

Are the side bracket mounts different between the MY55 to the MY10? I'm looking on eBay and you can buy side steps that fit both models.

Are we being fed dealer BS here? MY10 3.6 TD V8 Autobiography

Pretty sure that its BS re the side bars, I am 99% sure the mounting points are the same for all L322.

Is it a petrol or diesel? Not sure if the aux heater is a standard fitment on the SC, the webasto unit is a standard fitment on the Diesel, but don't think remote operation was, and was optional. It is a matter of fitting a receiver pairing with the remote and programming the CCF to recognise the remote operation AFAIK. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's a 3.6 Diesel so should have a timed climate heater as standard which I'm sure is a daily set up on the dash. I really wanted a pre heater as we've had one one our current car and it's a great feature to just press the fob when you get up and get in a warm car after you are dressed.

Is it just a dealer mod to change this feature from timed to remote by installing a receiver in the car?

My thoughts exactly on the side steps. I'll be looking to swap that steps as I think the seats go on the sides with the steps. MY10 3.6 TD V8 Autobiography

Yes it is. I had it as standard on my AB but the disco I had before that had the timed climate but I wanted the key fob to do it from inside the house when I fancied going out. The dealer did it for me for £70.00

Just needs the right receiver (if it wasn't fitted and the remote has just been lost) this will fit in the boot area and plug into a ready wired plug. I did the same mod on my Disco. The Dealer should be able to carry out the modification with ease. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
