Another newbie!

Well, I'm coming out of a company car (merc 250d Sport estate) and have taken the plunge and purchased a 2011 Vogue in Oyster Grey from Portland Autos in Bawtry.

FSH and 1 owner (last service done at 45k) and when I checked her out last week, she looked in super condition for her 50,243 miles. I think she lived in Aberdeen looking at the service history.

My car before the merc was a 4.2 TD A8, so I'm looking forward to having that grunt back again!

There looks to be some great advice on this site and well done to you all for keeping that coming and I do hope that I can contribute going forward.

Fingers crossed Confused

Oh gosh you're right Stan, it's the new kitchen the wife wants that's "oyster". That's quite worrying getting the 2 mixed up!

Incidentally, do all RR's come with tow bar? I never checked when I viewed her and whilst I don't need one, I just wondered.

So I pick up the RR and after only a couple of miles up the A1 from Bawtry, the truck in front burst into flames on the rear near side of the trailer and he quickly pulls the bulk haulage set up onto the hard shoulder and he,along with 2 other truck drivers try to release the unit from the trailer to save it.
In the meantime, I'm hemmed in within 20 feet of the fire and oddly, finding myself more concerned with the car than my own safety.
So I went around the flaming unit, on the inside (and a ruddy great sign) and continued my journey.
Thankfully, no damage to the car, just an odd odour and a stain on the seat.
Oh, and 32.2 mpg over the 50 mile run.

The more I keep reading these posts the more I think I'm looking for the right car. Had been put off by the thought of a hideous mpg but it doesn't appear much worse than my current stead. Good to hear newbies verdicts!

Thanks, keep up the updates please.

You won't find many on here discouraging you from buying one Thumbs Up

MPG varies massively by engine - the newer engines are actually quite good

As a former A8 Quattro TDi owner myself.....don't expect the pulling of the Audi as the RR weight half again what that did.

MPG will be up and down like a fiddlers elbow. It'll also restore the smile the Audi gave you Thumbs Up Mr. Green Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Will be buying a 4.4 rather than the 3.6, the 8 speed box has big plus points and after discussing the engines with a dealer the 4.4 is the preferred one. All the good points offered by the 4.4 on increased mpg have been backed up by comments on here. Glad I joined!
