It appears that the top of the pollen filter housing has some clips missing so the wind rattles the plastic bit at the top. I stuck some insulation and taped them up which made things a bit quieter but I need to go back in with more duck tape to improve things.

2015 Range Rover Autobiography TDV6 Santorini Black

Here's another to try......turn off the in car circulation to manual so the setting brings in air from the outside. Had two different RRs that whistled/ rattled when set to circulate from the car. 2013 L405 AB 4.4SDV8 Luxor/Ivory, 2007 Vogue TDV8 Epson Green/Sand, 2008 Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue/Sand, 2003 Vogue 4.4 LPG Epsom Green/Sage, 1998 Vogue SE 4.6 LPG Epsom Green/Cream

United States 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Stornoway Grey

I had my filter box apart a couple of weeks ago to add sound-deadening .
The screws holding the carpet to the underside also hold the 2 halves together .

Unnecessary quote removed

The clips are there, i can see them in the photo, the one nearest the camera is located correctly the middle two aren't, they just need lifting up a little with a screw driver so they're sitting in the groove on the flap. Is the 'hinge' of the flap still ok? Looks like it's split in one place.

FINALLY SORTED!!!!

I now have peace and quiet finally after a year of ticking from the air vents. LR have had the car 3 times and not sorted it, I was going to let them have another go but they wanted up to 10 hours at a discounted rate off £77 plus VAT, so I thought I would let my local indie body shop have a go.

The guy had it in all day and fitted two new side vents, tidied up the loose wiring under the bonnet and fixed the pollen filter. I took it out tonight and it was super smooth without the knocking noises - peace at last! Chuffed that I now finally have the car I have always wanted it to be.

Completed for £200 all in, beat the dealer at their own game. There's s lot to be said for the little man!

Glad you got it sorted...

The "little man" will usually beat the main dealers at just about anything... any decent time served main agent mechanic will set up on his own or work for an independent, the dealers pay peanuts and as the saying goes, you get monkeys working on your car, they are fine for servicing where they can follow simple steps but little use in tracing unusual faults/noises etc....

Thumbs Up Pete
