Question being .. Are they any good or just as reliable as the FF 😄😄.

Run on the same engine / chassis as the Discovery 4's, suspension every 50-60k replace upper and lowers, if dual turbo, Center air recirculating valve issues as well as turbos if not allowed warm up and cool downs, worse bit is the lag at initial throttle responded, most cured with brake pedal tweak, but can catch you out.

I've had a couple of them.
Great car, great handling. We have a D4 and a RRS still in the business and we have had no problems what so ever.
Same as the FFRR they need to be serviced.

I have had 2 of them, and loved them both.

Both of were totally reliable although the 2007 needed a few suspension things replaced at 5 years old such as suspension bushes and ball joints. Nothing really too expensive but fortunately warranty paid for all the work.

If the budget allows try and stretch to a 2012 SDV6 as they came with a number of improvements and pretty much well sorted then. Improvements include : 11 BHP increase, 8 speed gearbox with rotary dial replacing gear stick , electric opening & closing tailgate etc.

I currently own a 2012 3.0 sdv had it just over two years and not even a dust cap replaced .

She had that rotary dial on her Jag XF and she wasnt keen on it , already a member on RRSPORT but coz its always been FF's i have had thats why i asked on here coz i knew there were a few who have moved up from a Sport to here 👍

The one she has seen she quite likes , but you know woman ... Change their minds quicker than the weather .... Hence why the X3 has lasted 2 months 🙀😳😳

I've had loan ones and wouldn't touch them with a barge pole! The sdv6 engine at that age is likely to have the older gearbox and ICE as well so expect lag unless its been updated when you want to set off.
I found it more cramped in the front than a disco and ff and harder as well but I guess that's the point but then a BMW will be just as sport orientated.

The place I've just worked out two staff there gave up on theirs. One had a 2010 and the other a 2011. The 2010 lass had it since new and said it spent many holidays at the dealers and one reason she took the extended warranty out. Including a new engine.. Other one just had random gremlins apparently with trim and electrical faults.
Ones gone over to an XC90 and the other to the X5 3.0 brand new ones as well.

The engines at that age are new to the vehicle and jlr so expect gremlins and faults and if it doesn't get any(PMPL) she will be happy and when not if its faults start coming out you both won't be surprised.

Buy from a dealer if you can for a decent warranty as most after market ones will just class stuff as wear and tear.

Air compressor will be getting on and should be replaced if anything to avoid it failing in the middle of nowhere and the egr's checked and cleaned out to avoid failure. Coolant needs to be changed when the belts and pump are done if not before to help keep the egr coolers in fettle and he cooling system as they get quite warm with 2 turbos.

Mick, I, in a weird moment, bought an 07 TDV8, hated the thing from day 1 however SWMBO loved it, took 6 months to sell the thing and ended up practically giving it away, horrible IMHO but horses for courses. No problems really apart from air compressor and warped discs but did have it 6 months I can see why people like them but too small for me

Not really Mick. The biscuit was taken when one dumped me and the nipper just outside his school at 9am after frying its maxi fuse then lunched its engine!

The new one is leagues ahead imo. If it were me mick I'd show her the SSRR is the same underneath and plenty of interior bits with a disco 4 and see if she could be tempted with one of those in xs or hse trim for the extra seats which I bet she could put to good use with the grandkids 😉👍 just as quick and softer ride as well 👍 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Next door neighbour had a 3.6 TDV8 Sport for 5 years and never had a problem with it apart from the usual new pads and disc's ... he traded it in 3 weeks ago for a L405 and its been back to the dealership 3 times ....

In saying that my other neighbour had the HST Sport for 3 years and in its finally 6 months gave him nothing but trouble ... But then again some FF's can just be as pernickety

Anyhow F k knows what she's gonna do ... getting bored looking for a motor for her ...

But it is good to hear other folks opinions on them ....

Just to put things into perspective, my L405 has spent more time at the dealers than the two of my previous Sports combined
