I have a receipt among the service history for mine. The owner has been to the dealer complaining the phone holder has no power to it. The dealer has been advised by Land-Rover the phone holders were disabled as part of an update (they're basically redundant with bluetooth phones.) |

You might choose to use it as the socket has a connection to the cell aerial in the shark fin. That would provide much better reception than bluetooth to a handset which only uses its internal aerial. Especially if you live in the sticks like some of us. |

there is a update for the module that allows contacts to be shown and not having to pair every time you start the vehicle ,,, im surprised nobody has made leads up with a female connector one end that would fit the connector in the centre console ,so you could us it as a charging point and direct connection to your phone 2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey |

i expect you could just chop the cables to the back of the holder off and connect it to a USB socket, it would provide a charging point (although not a connection to the nav system.)
The problem is they don't produce cradles for newer phones, making the dock basically obsolete. BMW still do cradles for modern phones, but LR don't, someone said on here he BMW cradles aren't compatible. I dare say you could replace the factory dock with a Bury dock, and use the power feed and antenna connection from the back of the factory unit to power the Bury one, then connect the phone to the car via bluetooth. My iphone 6 works fine with downloading contacts and making calls from the touchscreen etc. |
