I got the Sprinter Jack and it's fine, I've used it a couple of times to lift the car to get the wheels off which it does with no fuss and it lives in the wheel well with the 20" full size spare no problem. I only got it for roadside wheel swapping and it is more than good enough for that task and IIRC it only cost me about 15 quid. Geoff

£20 I paid around the time forum members clocked an ebay ad at the time. Think they're now going for about £50 ish....

Thanks, fellas. I happened across a brand new one that was poorly advertised (so it didn't show up on usual searches) for £37, delivery included. Thumbs Up

Hey guys, while we're on this topic my Sprinter Jack sort of auto extends when stored not by the full amount but by 5 or 6 inches - anyone else had this and is there a fix? It still works OK and still easily fits in besides the spare wheel but its annoying. Geoff

Is it finding your spare wheel a little too exciting?

Try some bromide in its tea.

I think it's the Jack that's the problem with it's constant 6" erection - I will swap the Viagra for Bromide. Another helpful tip from the forum on an otherwise slow day Thumbs Up Geoff

does it happen when the valve is closed or open Geoff..

could be air in the hydraulic fluid, so it will need bleeding.. ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan, IIRC it doesn't matter if the valve is open or shut, obviously I don't know how to "bleed" it and I have no leeches, in any case I'm not sure they would work. But I'll bet you (or someone) knows how to bleed the Jack without leeches Rolling with laughter Geoff

open the valve and pump the handle for about 20/30 times and then close valve ....we used to get this problem on our bottle jacks when i managed a tyre depot and this procedure worked most of the time... ... - .- -.

This morning it's not raining so I got the Jack out and carried out this procedure, pretty much worked although the Jack did still want to extend a little bit - couple of Zip ties and its now sorted. Geoff

did you push down on the ram while you pumped it?

You can also unscrew the valve and take it out then push the ram in to bleed the air out - be careful as you might have oil squirt out too.

^^^^^^^ Yep pushed down the ram whilst pumping, only really came back up 30mm or so, just tie wrapped it fully closed before tightening the valve again - job done Thumbs Up Geoff

What are the options for an L405, if you don't want to grind the "ears" off a Sprinter Jack?
