The same happened with my wife's. I seem to remember a phone number for VOSA. Try giving them a ring.

It happened with my wife's car but the garage had called it in early so it was before the month's grace.

Garage told me it was VOSA problem but when I pointed out they had done it too early they backed down and took the car back in a month later for a free MOT.
