I believe a flush on these is done by disconnecting the hoses from the cooler and sticking one end in a 25l drum and running the engine/gearbox oil pump till it is nearly empty.

Call Gordon form 4-Tech. Sponsor over on Disco3.co.uk. Also does a mobile service if you prefer - he did mine on my drive. But based in Cambridge if you prefer to go there.

I enquired & they said a Td6 could only be done at their premises. So it's a trek to Wisbech for me then... Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 15 MY 110 XS USW 54 FFRR Vogue TD6 Touchscreen - Gone! 56 FFRR TDV8 VSE - Gone! |

This is why I enquired if anyone knew of anywhere in the East Midlands who could do the full flush. I have no interest in doing the job myself especially the 'do it twice method' considering the cost of the fluid, anyway I don't have the tools or facilities at my home to do it myself. _________________ Currrent: 2005 FF Range Rover L322 Vogue TD6 Gone: 1999 Range Rover P38 HSE TD6 Gone: 1985 Land Rover 90 SWB diesel |

Try your local Land Rover main dealer mine quoted me £150 for single flush and £250 for double flush. Ended up taking mine to a local LR specialist like who's charging £100 today whilst sorting a few other little problems. |

You sure that's wise? Will the new stuff not get pumped round the system and mix with the old straight away? I'm only asking because I used to own a Volvo 850 T5 Auto, the transmission fluid was and I lost drive one night, fearing the worst took it to a supposed specialist who confirmed the ATF had had it, I asked them about flussing it out, but all they did was just drain it from the sump then topped it up, 25 miles later, no drive again, I ended up taking the top hose off that goes into the ATF cooler off and running the engine for a few seconds until 5l had emptied, topped it up, the repeated until the old ATF had been flushed through. 2006 Mercedes CLS 1991 Retro-style Mini But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C... |

That's the way the dealership go about it. The best thing to do is drain and refill, drive for a few miles and repeat.

This is true.. but the thing is how do you know if its box damage or fluid past it's best? Here its Day 2 without the FFRR having its box rebuilt. I spoke with the chap at length about the box (GM) and also about the ZF boxes in the petrol FFRR. He said the ZF's also find there way in to him so aren't as bomb proof as we may be lead to believe. He has one FFRR on the ramps when I went in which had stripped the splines on a shaft that mates to the transferbox. That FFRR had to be dragged in due to the transfer box having blown somewhat dramatically.. more likely the cause of the auto stripping its splines. Which raises the next question.. is the Transfer box sharing ATF with the auto box.. or is it isolated and how often and what with should we be doing the swap.. doesn't seem to get much of a mention on forums. Anyone know this before I resort to trawling? 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS Previous Landrover products -1990 110 TDI CSW, 2003 TD6 Vogue - RRC TD Vogue, RRC v8 Fleetline, Disco ES V8 LPG, 101 Ambulance "Morph", 1964 SIIa Auto Powered by Jag 4.2 Lump - "Percy". |

I would hope the transfer box is running EP90 or some other lubricant. The systems are separate, unlike the LT95.....

The transfer box uses Castrol BOT 26 FMB1 not EP90

47p2 do you use a pump or just those small bottles? I keep meaning to get a pump for this sort of job. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

You need a pump for refilling the box, the fill plug is behind the prop-shaft and the ATF has a flat lid, not the tube type. To drain simply remove the sump plug, then 19 of the 20 bolts leaving one at the back loosened but still in place, this will allow you to tip the sump and drain most of what is left out rather than spilling it over the floor.
