Washing my car

I know I'm not the first to do this, but I decided to give the car a wash yesterday and though't I'd give you some pictures.

The car was quite mucky, mostly bits of leaves and mud from the roads



I've treated myself to some goodies from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/ - a snow foam lance, bilberry wheel cleaner, lambswool washing mitt etc etc - everything turned up within a day of ordering, fantastic stuff and it's the cheapest I could find anywhere (I've got no connection to the company so hopefully I'm not breaking any forum rules by posting this - I was just really impressed with them).

First thing was to cover the car in foam - first time doing this and I know the mix is a bit runny but it's great fun!!!






While that was working it's way through the mud I gave the wheels a squirt with the Bilberry cleaner (smells lovely) and a quick run over with an EZ detail brush



Then rinsed everything off and gave it a 2 bucket wash. I found out all about this from detailingworld - didn't believe the hype until I tried it - really makes a difference. The was was so easy because the foam had got rid of all the bits of mud and leaves so the washing mitt just glided over the paintwork



Then a final rinse and dry:





All in it took just over an hour and the car looks immense. '07 Supercharged in black with drug dealer tinted windows

Looks great, the snowfoam really does take a lot of the hard work out of the washing process and the two bucket method is a must on a black car to avoid introducing swirls etc.

The only thing I would add to the end of the proccess would be some Autoglym Aquawax, you just spray it on when wet and then dry as you normally would. It doesnt really add a good layer of protection to the car but it does bead the water nicely for about a week, which is fine if you wash weekly.

Dan - agree with your thoughts on Aquawax - it is great stuff for beading water between washes and is quick and simple to apply...

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I know threads like this could come across as showing off, which to be honest it is a bit, but at least I'm in good company here!

I'll look into the wax you suggested Dan, thanks for the advice Thumbs Up

Trough the years i have been on lots of car forums and you do get the odd ones that are complete tools but on here so far so good Bow down
