Is it really worth going through IAM though?

I've done the books and spent a few hours here and there with IAM Trainers when avialable but never committed to doing the extra work, i always just keep in the back of my mind, anything can happen and im not a perfect driver..

Just to update, finally agreed terms with Admiral (cost of my time spent negotiating with other insurers on 4 cars taken into consideration.)

Taking into account all the breakdown cover etc etc, finally got the quote down to £1931 (FFRR £380 inc national breakdown) so this down from £2646.

For info, the Swiftcover initial quotes on confused.com do not include the compulsory legal aid and other cover which whacks another £50 onto your quote, then add breakdown cover so £ 213 can quickly become £ 350.

The crazy one is my Mazda Eunos (1990 auto, worth @ £700!) costs more to insure that the Audi or the FFRR, simply because of the Jap Import tag, and 3rdF&F is only about £30 cheaper. Time to swap it out for a TT or Boxster Wink

I'm in a B postcode. .

renewal

Just got my renewal from Direct Line - £690 (had to have tracker fitted) (61 plate TDV8 SE)

didn't think that was too bad as was expecting about a grand this time, but it does have a non negotiable £1000 excess Shocked

If I didn't want no claims protection I could save £83.00 !

Sep 2014 Insurance for fleet

This year, insurers seem to be behaving themselves, only reasonable and acceptable increases, if that.

FFRR 2002 £178 Diamond (fully comp, 14yrs NCB, me and SWMBO drivers) SAME AS LAST

Audi Cab 2004 £211 LV (as above) UP A BIT

Mazda Eunos 1990 £138 Chaucer (as above) DOWN A BIT

Ford Ka 2005 £432 Diamond (yes, daughter ( 20 ) has newest car in the house!) 3rd Party, 4 yrs NCB me and SWMBO too) DOWN @ £150

Ford Ka 2000 £773 Good Girl ?? (son ( 18 ) just passed test a few months ago, shocking!) ARRGH!

MG Midget 1962 £96 (fully comp, me and SWMBO) - still under restoration SAME AS LAST

Didn't do the rounds on Confused or go in search of a meerkat.....

Very Happy .

had my renewal through last week - £360 which was similar to last year, had some time today and used a popular search engine and cheapest was £199.....from my current insurer!!

Quick phone call to local office, immediately passed to renewal person and hey ho, saved c 45%! I know why they do it but how many people just renew. Rolling Eyes

p.s. we live in the middle of nowhere with minimal crime but only have 4 yrs NCD due to SWMBO/ Tesco Carpark/Audi TT, nuff said Thumbs Up

Renewal.

Just resurrecting a thread, as with all the hoo-har with fatties being stolen recently, I wasn't looking forward to renewal time. I have an old 2002 vogue -live in Surrey, parked it off road, fully comp and missus as named, all in £251 with More Than.

Can't be bothered to ring around at that price, and it's a repeat cover with same company, and missus' Merc is a second car with same company, but can't remember the price on hers, but similar.

Sorted!

United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Oslo Blue

Last year I was pleasantly surprised - ESure (1st year renewal with them) maintained within a few quid the same price as previous year (about £250).

This was unusual as I every year I find the first year renewal with any insurer to be significantly more expensive. I used to phone them up and they would Um and Ah and may be a few quid off but really was never worth my time phoning them.

So for the last 10 years I have never bothered Haggling (Life of Brian market stall scene comes to mind) - I just get straight on to Confused.com - often finding the same insurer offering a lot less than their own renewal quote to me.

A similar pattern with SWMBOs - insured via ESure in 2014, 1st renewal this year within a few quid (Happy Days) - probably expect to be hiked next year as I think a pattern is developing - they now leave it 2 years before hiking the renewal quotes to lull you for longer.

Anyway Esure wanted £328, Admiral wanted £190 Smile Happy days. Very Happy

PS I have no personal business connection with any of the firms above - names are just for info from my experience. Howard
