Laughing @ Rosco

Remember that FU11 FAT is just 'register interest' at this stage. It could be months, years or never! It will all hinge on how many people flag their interest. Maybe Dairy Crest will have the deepest pockets. Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

I've seen a reg that I want but can't buy it until the 3rd Dec at 8:30am onwards??

Oh know, can someone clarify this, can I put a **16 *** plate on a **55 *** car?

Is it not the case that you can't make a car look newer than it actually is??

as above, you cant do that, but, you can buy it and retain it free for 10 years to wait for that particular car to come down in value to then assign it. after 10 years yu can renew again for another 10 years. or keep it on say a new(ish) moped...

I bought EO54PEN for my missus and had plates done EO5 4 PEN (her name is Penny) on her VW EOS

We were filling up in a local garage and plod arrives mob handed in a minibus and starts checking all the motors in there, seems a new thing they're doing as it's easy to check on stationary motors, we got a pull as it showed up as not being insured.....I'd forgotten to tell my insurance of the number change! They were actually really decent about it and once they'd checked with the MIB that it was insured they said "by the way that plate spacing isn't legal, we could fine you but wont this time so make sure you change the plates" Thumbs Up

you were lucky, i was in a similar boat, not telling the (insurer) actual day we put the new number, that i told them i was getting etc, (the day before,) and had a blue lights and siren stop, and they said 'tow it away' and away it went. i managed to show them that the chassis number was insured against the old reg etc, but they were adamant and it was 150 for the tow, and release, however, they never came back via the post, for the licence to add 6 points to, and £300 fine. but after 2 years i think we got away with it.
obviously im not going to chase them up on it. but it was an awful experience, as my missus was at the wheel, and would have copped the points! Shocked

A shame that it's been mis-spaced; much more kudos and Bow down for keeping it legal. All in though, a 'proper' plate. And proper is only proper when it's worth more than the car! Surprised

Interesting to see that D1 SGO is now on the market at £115k.

That doesn't mean that is what he can sell it for of course but it's an interesting starting point! Shocked

Very true, Stan! But my money is on a Land Rover Disco owner though, they need a healthy bank balance in the first place to fund the constant stream of repair bills . Laughing 2006 4.2 SC
