Which engine

I have had my 04 td6 for 9yrs i think its time i changed her ( had a few problems last week ). My question is which engine should i have this time 3-0 3-6 or 4-4. I know its like asking how long is a piece of string, but i would be interested in members thoughts. Thanks Brian.

i looked at 3.6 and 4.4.
I pushed to the 4.4 as there were possible turbo issues on the 3.6. Also the 4.4 came with the 8 speed box which is amazing.

Just my opinion

Kind of depends on your budget really Whistle

As said already the combo of the 4.4 and the 8 speed is really very nice - and even better on the L405 Very Happy

Have you definitely eliminated the 5.0 SC from the options ?

Don't know of Bushbury. Closest to me is either Stafford, Stratstone in Stourbridge or Listers in Solihull.

Used to be a Stratstone in Wolves but closed now.

If you enjoyed the TD6, then you're in for a real treat - the newer engines are so much better

£50k is almost L405 money

I'd be looking at either a good 4.4 L322 or you might be able to find one of the new 3.0 L405's which are apparently very good (even though I still felt the need for the 4.4 Twisted Evil )

I'd even take a look at the L494 Sport 3.0 - I thought that was a very nice car indeed and would have probably bought one, but until my kids leave home, felt I needed that bit of extra space. You should definitely take one for a drive Thumbs Up

50K should easily be putting you just into L405 territory. If not now then certainly after winter it will

Poland 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue

They all have their issues.

I have a 2007 3.6 TDV8.

I would prefer to have a 4.4 TDV8 with 8 speed but these are way more expensive so decided to get a nice 3.6 for now and so far I am happy with what I own. 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

No brainer????
You wouldn't get a 3.6 for 50k now and you would be mad to go that high on a 4.4??
L405 all the way?
What are you waiting for?

IMO you'd be better spending 1/2 than budget on a facelift 5.0 and enjoying the spare cash.
Economy yes it is worse but the engine is much quieter and smoother.
Mainly there seem to be less issues with them aswell. The 4.4 has already had to have what i would class as a major design flaw recalled and then you have the double disasters lying ahead...

2 turbos
2egr's
2 egr coolers
DPF issues
more air intake pipework than you can shake a stick at..

The SC is the simpler engine in terms of long term maint and fault finding.

Their prices are that bit lower but then the car you get generally has more toys as well and with some coming in under £20k now i think £25k is easily possible to get a good one and if you want a particular colour set maybe upto £30k.

Added to that all the hu hah going on about diesels now it doesn't seem the sensible time to buy one unless your really cover the miles to make it worth while. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have to admit that I have a 4.4 TDV8 before I start 😎

At the point I was looking I drove a 3.6 and a 4.4, to me there was no comparison.
The smoother more torquey 4.4 was good but the 8 speed gearbox was the real game changer.

Btw, what's the DPF issue with the 4.4? 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
2014 (L405) VSE in Black with Ivory
2011 (L322) VSE in Black with Ivory
2005 (3.2 V6) Porsche Cayenne in Black with Savanna
1999 (P38) VSE in Burgundy (?) with Sand
