Venture Cam not working

Hi All ,

Newbie here , so please be gentle Very Happy

I bought a 4.4 v8 54 plate vogue a few weeks ago , but the venture cam doesn't work .

I found the internal battery was flat , and testing the pins in the docking station with a multi meter showed no voltage .

I bought a fully charged venture cam off ebay , but it still fails to connect to the bluetooth system. I returned the vehicle to the Main Dealer , who said they couldn't fix the Venture cam system . After I pointed out that they promised to repair it when I bought the car , they stripped the dashboard down and found that there is a PCB ( which I assume supplies the charging voltage to the venture cam and may also be the receiver for the bluetooth signal ) which has fried , possibly due to water dripping on it from somewhere .

I have also interrogated the secret diagnostics pages on the touch screen , and ran the video inputs test which reported that there is a "companion input video failure " , which I assume to mean the Venture Cam.

The garage says that the PCB is not available any more .

Can anybody shed any light on this PCB with regards to part numbers or wiring diagrams ? I have both of the Brooklands Workshop manuals , but there is no mention of the venture cam system in the mechanical or electrical manual .

I would like to get this camera working so I can see behind when towing the caravan.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Try another main dealer to make sure yours is not talking out his arse, and if it really is obsolete ask for a part number to help your search going forwards.

Cheers Fellas ,

I have been looking on Ebay , only 2 cam units and no PCB's at the moment . As for the dealer , I'm not very impressed with the after sales service at the moment . They are too used to swapping out modules to fix an electrical fault , instead of using proper fault finding techniques . I had to tell them that the docking station probably operates a micro switch when it was pushed up , they hadn't bothered to check that Mad

Guess what , they phoned me and told me I was right , the micro switch was broken ( but I resisted saying "told you so" ) Laughing

But , in all fairness , when they put their lead technician on the case , he did find the PCB was fried too .
