Put my 2016 MY through its paces | |
Just got back from a long weekend away complete with wife, dog and, initially, horse.
Started off with large horse in Ifor Williams HB511 to Northamptonshire. Despite lower weight car tows really well and very happy with the way it went.
Then went to Gloucestershire to meet friends for long weekend. Whilst we had dinner in the hotel the dog was in the car. BUT wife unintentionally double locked the car. We were in an area with no mobile signal. The dog must have moved and set the alarm off unknown to me. The car called the InControl Security people. They tried to call me with out success. So they could see where the car was parked and rang the Hotel to see if I was there. The hotel manager then came into the dining room to let me know that the tracker people had called him and offered to check that car and dog were OK. I and my friends were very impressed. Nice that they went the extra mile to check all was OK (or not).
Next day we were with a shooting party. Certain amount of interest in whether we would get stuck. We didn't but I was unimpressed with the auto terrain response. It does not show what it is doing and I was not convinced it was choosing the best program so found it better to choose manually. My other disappointment was the inability to select low range without stopping entirely. Sometimes its best not to stop on slippery ground but if there are hazards ahead which justify low range then its useful to be able to select it on the move. This was possible on the L322 provided one was going slowly. Why not on the L405?
Otherwise I thought the lighter weight than the L322 did improve the offroad performance and the overall economy was good.
