Cracks in sidewalls of tyres

Afternoon chaps Thumbs Up

I've currently got my alloys off the FFRR to be refurbished and had the garage on the phone saying that the sidewalls of my Cooper Zeon LTZs(285/50/20) facing into the car have loads of cracks in them Big Cry ,they are saying that because the size of the tyre is 285 & not a 255 that this is causing the issue ...is this
possible or is it just a fault with the tyres as I know some people have had issues with the Coopers...thoughts please Bow down

What width are the wheels ?

That size isn't listed on their site - but the 305/55/20 is rated 8.5-11" - click the orange button in the middle here

Unusual to have them only on the inside as it's usually sunlight or chemicals which affect the outside - or age which is more universal. Heat is the only other thing that would normally cause cracking.

May be a manufacturing defect, so if the rim width is within tolerance, I'd contact Cooper Thumbs Up

Sorry - I'm not disputing the tyre size just went to the wrong site - the UK site list the rim widths as 8-10"

On that basis I would have thought you'd be OK - I'd call Cooper & ask them Thumbs Up

Shocked Your not the first chap on here to have his Cooper sidewalls crack, there was something at the beginning of the year, I think that there were a lot more on the D3 / D4 site, good luck Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I had this happen on one of the Pirelli Scorpions that came on my car - so Mar 14 supplied tyres. I just replaced it but I didn't think to argue with Pirelli.
