2014 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

I've had my 200 TDI Defender since new in 1992. The venerable old beast has clocked up 210,000 miles and just had its first new clutch. Still on its 3rd set of tyres though. Its slow, noisy, leaks and the wife hates it but I wouldn't part with it.

Pete,

It has been muddy! I've been getting it shoot-ready over the summer and its had 2 days out so far, then I had the rear glass done so it got a good wash.

Tomorrow it's out on the farm carting me, the dog, and my shooting mate around the shoot for the day, it will get used as much as the Range Rover has done, I'm not afraid of the mud...

Isn't it amasing how the mud works it's way around a road tyre and stays there, never get mud like that with A/T or Mud tyres...

One of mine with road tyres just after I got it...

Nonsense. I've always used the RR's for shooting and making them work for their living, maybe not as extreme as you Pete, but they're just an awesome machine to use, and my Dad uses his RR like it was a pickup truck - THAT'S criminal! Discovery 4 HSE

The Defender is getting used and getting muddy. Right now it is having an interior refit (by me - I do all the work and loving it)

Planning to fit the Dirt D-Fenders on the front, apparently they are tricky to fit with side chequer plate but I will figure it out.

This weekend just gone, despite the constant rain I decided to get on with the interior refit.

First things first I fixed the headlining up with the extra long fir trees, drilling 4 mm pilot holes into the roof rib, then opening them up to 7mm. A rubber mallet helped knock the clips up firmly, and because I had sprayed them matt black, they blend it perfectly and it looks REALLY smart.

Next I had to remove the seat belt mounts, as you can't fit and adjust the seat riser rails with them in place, an easy task, they are held in by a 10mm nut at the rear and a 13mm at the front, each into a rivnut in the seat box.

Before the seat was put in I fitted the Ardcase Pedal Lock carrier to the front of the passenger seat box, it's not a small unit so it fits well here, and with no seat in place there's easy access to the back of the box by the battery.

Next was fitting the passenger seat, which went in fine, a little adjustment on the rails to lift the rear a bit then tighten up.

Once the seat was in, I could see that luckily, there's enough space underneath to access the battery with jump leads, without a removable base and without having to remove the seat in total.

The seats both went in fine, then the seat belt mounts (a tight fit compared to the OE seats), and then finally the cubby box. once they were all in, tightened down and I was happy with the adjustment range it was time to put the dog guard back in.

The finished result, with the black alcantara headlining, the beautiful LRI leather seats, the tall leather cubby and the Startech leather wheel all go so well together. The interior ir amazing.
