Apologies if this has been asked before.
I am thinking of getting myself an IID Tool, just for basic fault code reading and resetting.

Which one is the best one to get?

IMHO the BT version is the one to get. Although more expensive than the non-Bt it is much more flexible in use and has additional features too. The GAP website lists the differences. John

Bear in mind for the BT unit, it works best with Apple devices. You can always get an old Iphone 4S for a few quid and use that if you don't already have one.

According to Gap's website low cost Android devices aren't well supported.

But yes, i use mine with my Iphone 6 and it's so much easier to use that via the steering wheel buttons.

Use mine with iPad and Samsung Galaxy phone. John

BT one all the way. Covers all models (subject to additional costs), great with my iPhone 4s.

BT definitely. Mine works fine with my 'el cheapo' Tesco HUDL2  2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

BT IID is a must, mine works really well with my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Turbo Nutter Bast..'d, a lot better than it does with the knackered Screen of Doom in the car

Worth bearing in mind, if your lcd display on the dash is ok'ish at the moment, it wont be long before it all goes tits up and it will leave you guessing like the rest of us  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Okay, SOMEONE has to be on the side of the non-BT IID!
I like it. Having an IID is great, but I hope not to use it all the time. Therefore, I got a nonBT one second hand and saved a good few ££. If you want new, go BT.

Thanks for the replies. I have an ipad so connectivity shouldn't be a problem. Looking like the BT is the way to go, just got to save up a few more quid. My Motto: If you are going to have one, have a BIG one!

my first iidtool was the non BT one and tbh i had no problems using it....at first it will be a novelty and you'll use it quite a lot but once you've got all your settings as you want them ,the iidtool will be put away and only used when you have a problem or when you want to 'tweak' something..

granted there are members that like to use theirs all the time so a BT version would be more comfortable to use..

so, you could be happy with the non BT version and using the dash display is easy...the only point here is that hopefully your pixels will be ok and not start to fade as they do on some early FF's.. ... - .- -.

Aside from the ease of use, the BT model allows graphing and easy capturing of live values and fault codes etc. which, not only saves time, but can be essential to the diagnosis of some problems.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
