Dear All,

Can anyone confirm which MAF I need for my pre-face lift MOST 54 plate 4.4 M62 (2005MY)? Having logged onto various sites they recommend different parts to the Bosch 0280217814 sensor fitted and other sites say that the Bosch is the one to fit. Does the MOST system use a different MAF or is the Bosch the right one?

Confused!!

Go for OEM every time. Bosch is the one to have. I have just changed mine and others just don't ,are the grade. Not much more expensive either.

The 4.4 petrol only lists one MAF, with part number MHK000230

On OEM Bosch sensor is 3x the price of the cheap Britpart one, but you will only buy 1 Bosch sensor

I was going to suggest Bosch as fitted to mine. However my ignorance of what MOST meant I did not have a clue  Howard

Sorry Smutt - my car is one of the 'difficult' cars which has the old front end but with the 2005 fibre optic canbus etc so the reference to the MOST system was a question if the MAF needed a different sensor due to resistor issues rather like the upgrade to the 2012 rear lights needs a resistor pack to solve the flashing LED issue.

Buy direct from the dealer . . . Been there before, tried mail order multiple times and they didn't work correctly. Bought from the dealer, and it worked first time. It's one of the few things I'll pay the extra for to guarantee genuine. V8 or else ...

OEM is exactly the same part, but without paying Land Rover tax
In this instance, an OEM sensor is £101.17
To buy from a main dealer, it is £145.78, for exactly the same part

Why would you pay more?
Even genuine parts have been known to not work straight out the box

^^-- Agree with Mikey and Fisha - I learnt the hard (expensive) way that OEM part for the MAF is well worth the money.

Like I say, I've been down the route of trying cheapest ( didn't work ), mid-range supposed to be decent (didn't work) and finally genuine ( did work first time ).

The wasted cost of the cheapest + mid range together was way more than difference in cost between an OEM part and LR dealer ... so rather than have doubt, when it comes to the MAF, its worth paying the LR price. Yes it more, but at £40 difference, its worth it imho as the MAF readings are very very sensitive, and need to be spot on.

In other areas of the car, then I'll look for the balance of cheaper parts, but not the fuelling system. V8 or else ...

I'll agree with your cheapest and mid-range options, but the OEM part is EXACTLY the same part as you would get in a Land Rover box...

If you buy online make sure the vendor tells you it's OEM before shipping.

They only sell genuine Bosch or Seimens MAF's.
Exactly the same part as LR would supply except in a Bosch box.
I've used them before and saved over £250 compared to manufacturers prices (that was a dancing donkey though).
The Bosch 0280217814 you list comes in at £79.13 + shipping.
