Is there any speaker out there that is about 1" tall and utpo 10" long that would be perfectly suited to being a centre speaker?

The reason i ask is my TV has been replaced and the new one sits much lower so the Onkyo 7.1 setup i currently have has a nice 3" tall centre which wont sit infront of the TV without blocking the IR sensor.

Now its not too bad as i do most stuff through my Am Stick or Sky+HD(waiting for the Q box to show up if ever!) and can use wifi via the remotecontrol app to turn it on or off when my harmony doesn't get its signal through for ON/OFF and it would look much nice if i could get a centre to sit under the screen.

I've looked at soundbars and the ilk but they are still too tall even for long ones and with the Bravia having a thin wire frame for a stand 1" tall by 10" long should sit perfectly in there.

Failing this ill have to work on a way to raise the TV on the unit without it looking out of place which is going to take a lot of time to Fab and make nice... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I can't think of any speaker that small - you'd need an array of 1" speakers

I'd block the IR sensor & use something like this - i've used them for kit that's sitting in a cupboard

Thing is if I block it with something taller then it would need to be quite shallow to fit in the gap between the stand and the display so back to square one due to space.

I don't know if this would help but here goes.

I have a Canton DM50 soundbase that the television actually sits on. It's only 65 mm high but 545 mm wide and 330mm deep so provides a very solid base for the telly to sit on.

Can't the TV be lifted up? it might be worth trying to do, especially if you have a good centre speaker at the moment, as I fear that you maybe a bit with the sound performance of a 1" high speaker. For starters it will be a very tinny sound, as there is no way it will move any air.

Am I correct in thinking that you've got it all on a stand? Or have you gone and got one of those 6 foot high jobbies and run out of ceiling height

If it were to be lifted higher you'd have to drill new lower holes in the mount and extend the top by the same, 10 minutes with a Meccano set could save a lot of disappointment  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The centre speaker is purely speech but has two decent sized drivers in it

Problem is that it's a long solid oak unit that it sits on so finding a stand to increase its height is neigh on impossible unless I can find a nice oak that's being felled that I could go take a chunk of and get my dad to shape it for me.

The frame/stand that's currently fitted to the unit offers no real way to change its height other than wall mounting it which I don't want to do as I like having a few inches of space behind it to aid dusting and hoovering of my tv units 👍😄 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You went for the whole package then I just got the amp and added different speakers to mine, I think my centre speaker is 2 x 5" Eltax, it has bass reflex ports which add to the sound nicely, Kef floor standing speakers front, Eltax 4 way mids and 2 way rears. I did bag some 5 way Eltax for the fronts, but I never quite got round to changing them...... one day, I might try the bi pole rears that I got at the same time!

Have you looked at Bose? they make the best sounding small speakers that I've heard, but there will always be a compromise with the sound the smaller you go.

Are you using the table top stand that came with the TV? can that not be jacked up on a couple of bricks ? And then hidden with a decent centre speaker

If your using the VESA mount on the TV, it should be possible to move it all up, you'd need some angle iron to extend the top, but it is doable  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

take a front rear pic and then we might come up with a few suggestions

If your speakers are the same spec as the ones in your link, they are bass reflex, so you'll really notice if the replacement isn't....... just turn all the bass down and the treble up to get an idea, FYI most tweeters are 2" high, so anything smaller is going to sound like that  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Speakers are the same spec
Amp isn't an Onkyo however, they are just my speaker package

The TV isn't wall mounted but is using the standard stand hence the issue with the centre being too tall.

It would be great if sony offered something that fitted perfectly in the gap and as such contoured to the TV bottom.

A sound bar isn't just a speaker though - it's going to have a line level input and a built in amp

one of my problems Unless i buy it, pull the gubbins out and run decent cable to the speakers in some way.
