Polished rear lights

I have a cracked rear passenger light and am about to get a replacement but whoever had the car previously tinted the rear lights and the reversing lights with some cheapo spray , so to save having to buy a full set of rear lights instead of just one I bought the autoglym polishing kit and removed the tint , I practiced on the broken light then did the other rear light and the 2 reversing lights , I've put some pics and a bit of a description below.

First pic is the autoglym kit , 800/1500 sanding discs 2000/3000 wet sanding pads , polishing sponge and compound , and a drill attachment , second pic just shows the other stuff drill cloths and water spray

Couple of before pics the rear light is cloudy and the finish on the tint was a Matt and scratched the reversing light just looks rubbish, I removed all the lights to save masking up the car .

So had a quick go at the cracked one the photos not that good but does show the difference in shine between them

Before and after of the reversing lights.

Light after first sanding with 800 disc it removed the tint paint

Second sand with 1500 disc took the previous sand marks out

After wet sanding with the 2000 then 3000 pads it's nearly done

After polishing with sponge pad and compound ready to go back on the car.

Finished lights back on the car , well pleased kit was £24 off eBay and it's saved shelling out £200 for a new light and however much 2 reversing lights would be .altogether took about 2 hours all in .

Look nice, top job, as you say that saved a few quid.... when I did mine, someone had sprayed the side parts silver, I found the plastic is very soft compared to most modern plastic headlights and you have to be careful with heat when polishing, if it get's hot enough to feel uncomfortable to the touch then let it cool for a bit.... Pete

The smoked reverse lenses were already in the car but it was some crap spray on stuff that had started coming off so they looked tatty and patchy , I never thought of the high level brake light , it will be getting done later now though.
