Picking Up 2010 4.4 Tdi On Friday - Any Advice for a Newbie

As a long held ambition, I'm really looking forward to picking up our first Range Rover on Friday from Mashalls in Bedford. She's a 2010 Vogue in black with ivory leather with 39,000 miles and comes with a 2 year Land Rover warranty.

Any handy hints or tips to keep her running in fine fettle?

Thanks

Matt

Well done that man.

Plenty of info on here. The 4.4's seem to be running mostly OK at the moment.

Before collection, I would have a good look at the bodywork and make sure that the dealer gets any problems rectified before you pick it up. Check the rear arches under the door rubber lip, also check under the upper tailgate boot lip. These are the 2 common places they rust, and the upper tailgate will probably be blistering a bit and best to get it sorted or an agreement to sort it before you pick it up. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Also there is a turbo oil pipe modification that's part of a recall or TSB IIRC so worth asking if thats been done.

With such low miles for the age make sure it gets a good run to clear the DPF and EGR's a little, and dont forget to get it nice and hot every now and again to help keep those issues at bay Smile

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome, the car is everything we hoped it would be Very Happy.

Unfortunately there were a number of issues with the car upon final inspection, so we refused to pay until these were rectified which took several hours. Despite this there were lots of smiles on the way home.

First job is to get her clay'd, polished, waxed and sealed for winter.

A big thanks to Chris who PM me with some info which was very helpful -( Chris I couldn't PM you back to thank you as the website doesn't allow me to PM with less than 3 posts.)

There now follows several months of driving around with a silly grin on your face... now, when the snow comes, remember that just because it's the best 4x4 by far it cannot change the coefficient of friction between rubber and ice... drive to a nice large area and practice to see what it will do, seen too many new owners not realise it's limitations and end up looking silly.... Thumbs Up Pete

Good advice. In general terms, the RR goes forward very well in the snow ... stopping is a different matter ... thats where the practice is helpful. V8 or else ...

Severe camber on side roads and a heavy FF make for side slipping as well.. especially on road tyres... ride the crest to avoid it.... Pete
