EGR Thermostat, Fuel consumption

About 6 weeks ago I fitted a new EGR thermostat on my td6. The engine never got up to temp so I presumed it at fault. Right first time, old one was stuck open, new one in and all good. After 2000klms I note the average consumption has gone from 8.9 to 8.5 ltrs per 100klm, thats approx 31.7 to 33.2 mpg. 2007 TDV8 VSE
