Could be an air lock or blockage in the heater, try removing one of the heater pipes and sticking a hose up it to see if water will pass through the heater...

Also worth getting the codes read, that may point you in the right direction...

Does the fuel burning heater work??? Pete

From what I can tell the fbh doesn't do anything, either with the remote fob or by setting the times on the radio for it

Needs a good look at with a diagnostic device then...

If you are going to keep it I'd recommend an IID tool, does more than the dealer can and will pay for itself very quickly...

https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

They are a site sponsor, as is Dan at Duckworths who can sell you one from this country, some have had to pay extra tax when getting them direct...

Still worth a go with the hose though....

Thumbs Up Pete

I've no experience of the TD6, but on my petrol 4.4s the final stage resistor in the heater system failed resulting in no heat into the cabin. I believe that is a common problem. Could that be relevant to the TD6 too? Only Range Rovers since 1988

^^^^ very relevant - usually affects the fans but could impact on heat too. Worth a check/change out. .

I can't see how the FSR called an Output Stage (voltage amplifier) in Rave can make the OP's water pipes cold, it just controls the fans not the water valves...

I have had another go with it and found that the crossover valve has no power going to it thus to open it, is this what is supposed to happen or where does it get its power from ?

As I said above, you should get the codes read, there will be something to point you in the right direction, guessing why there is no power to it doesn't really work.... it could be a direct feed or it could be can-bus controlled, the signal probably comes from the HEVAC ECU... could be that, or the FBH or something else.... I take it you have checked all the fuses...??? Pete

Crossover valve is only powered when FBH is on

As iron horse posted, the crossover valve IS powered by the FBH so I looked there and found the fbh had been unplugged from its power supply, I plugged it back in and power was restored at the crossover valve, but firstly the fbh ran but would not stop until I unplugged it from the power, and secondly it didn't seam to get hot or warm water, as heater vents only blew cold but could turn blower off and on with fob remote, any ideas why it won't stop running even when the car is locked, did leave it running for about half hour until I unplugged it ?

if you interupt the FBH running cycle sometimes it can carry on running when powered back up (carrying on from where it left off)
that plug has been left off for a reason ,start from scratch dont take any short cuts to diagnose it and KEEP YOUR BATTERY FULLY CHARGED OR YOU WILL GET FALSE TEST RESULTS

best thing is to remove the fuse (cant remember the number off hand) connect everythig back up and leave it for a couple of hours,

replace the fuse and then see what happens
if it runs again when you replace the fuse leave it for about 40 mins to do its own thing (should cut out after 30ish mins)
might need faults clearing with diagnostic tool to stop it sulking

FBH is a very simple bit of kit but connect it to a landrover product it can be a nightmare

read and read again till you know how these things work or you will be chasing your tail forever
