Hi all,

just got hold of a gen10 ULF as well as a new plug from VW in order to do the repin. Followed the guide often passed around which I believe was created by a guy called Ajay. Moved the wires over to their new location on the new plug as instructed, but when I plug the ULF in and turn the car on nothing happens? Got no "telephone" option displayed on the car. Is there something I need to do in order to activate or code the telephone module? Is it a navcoder job perhaps? or should it be plug and play?? I don't currently have an antenna as its in the post, but I didn't think this was needed in order to get the Telephone option to display, I'd just be unable to connect a phone?

I did find another table giving repinning instructions although the 2 tables don't seem to match so I'm a bit confused as to which guide I should've followed?

Hope someone can help me - I've unplugged the ULF for now in fear of frying it although I'm worried it may be too late

Quick update after a bit more fiddling - remembered that whilst I was repinning I touched 2 wires together by accident and got a brief spark, so checked fuse 22 and it was blown. Replaced it and tried again, telephone has now appeared!

So my next question - does anyone know whether I'm able to pair my phone without the antenna module if I hold it really close to the ULF, or do I need to be a bit patient and wait for my antenna to come??

You only need power, Earth and I believe the ibus connection for it to appear on the screen as telephone.

Until you get that, you can't do anything.

If I remember right, this is what I used - is the fuse good ?

You can always try pairing ? Take it the antenna cable is there already ? It was on mine.....

That's the guide I went with in the end as it seemed the most popular and I noticed yourself and Ajay had given it to a fair few others! I've got the antenna cable yes, will give it a try, do you know whether the full version of nav coder is needed to change the ULF settings and enable pairing mode? I've only got a trial version at the moment

You will need the full version of navcoder to write to the units, so yes, just to enable voice recognition.

You don't need it to put the ulf into pairing mode, but you can if you've got it.

There is a bit of info here about pairing. Touch pin 32 to 36 to simulate the button press. 36 needs to be connected to the ulf and earth still though.....

Will fit a pairing button at some point down the line but having not long had my current phone I bought navcoder for now and used that (been meaning to get it for a while anyway) so I can now confirm that the phone is able to connect with no antenna, just the aerial cable. Struggling to get voice recognition to work at the moment - the lady on the other end keeps saying "sorry?" in a patronising tone. Reminds me of SWMBO.

I tried a test call and apparently I was coming through pretty clearly on the other persons phone but I could hardly hear the other person speaking! I'm hoping this is down to the lack of antenna but time will tell.

I ordered a nut to fix the antenna in place when it comes, I misread the eBay listing though and ended up with just the 1 instead of the 2 required (or 10 I expected to receive!!!)

Does anybody happen to know what kind of screws/bolts/captive nuts/any other fixings I'll need to get the ULF fixed in properly??

The ulf was never fitted to our cars, so I ended up drilling a bolt hole in the black steel work to mount it near the dsp.

I put rubber washers on the side of it too to make sure it didn't vibrate.

You'll have to try in a few places till you are happy. Not got a million options due to the length of the loom to the connector.

To try the voice recognition, I tend to change the screen display and the shout "map" to get the sat nav map back on the display. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks, I'll try the map suggestion on the VR, although I've got a bit of "man flu" at the moment so probably not speaking very clearly.

I was under the impression that the mounting bracket was already there to the left of the DSP as the ULF was intended but never put into production after Ford bought out LR before BMW finished adapting the ULF for the Range Rover. Nevertheless drilling holes and then just getting whatever bolts match my holes is probably a good idea

If I remember right, I used an existing hole for one point in the ulf, but the other hole in the ulf didn't line up with anything. They were both at the top, so easily accessible. They held it tight and in place so I didn't do anything at the bottom of it as it's hard to access being in the depths of the boot.
