What about the turbos and their actuators ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Haven't checked those yet, but would I be getting such a massive difference in MAF values whilst at idle?

just had a quick look and apparently theres an idle control valve if you have already changed out the MAF in the airbox that would be my next call ,Have you tried swapping over the maf plugs to see if the fault transfers itself L322 2008 vogue

The plugs don't quite reach to swap over ! But yes I have swapped the two MAF sensors across but the fault persists. Thank you for looking though

Generally a mMAF works on the hotwire principle i.e it sits at a certain temperature and as air passes over it cools it the wire and the voltage difference tells the ecu how much air is being sucked in ,I just had a look at the schematics and it looks like the temperature sensor is separate it might be worth checking your earth points as well as it seem to be jumping from one thing to another L322 2008 vogue

Do you have a part number for the Sensor? Is it before or after the Intercooler?

On the TDV8 the manifold temperature and pressure sensor is combined. Take off the plastic engine cover and you will see them toward the front of the engine, one on each intake manifold. You should pull them out and check for gunk. Don't touch them and if you do clean them so so with electronics-friendly cleaner.

the passenger side one tends to split under the protective layer, worth pulling it back to have a look. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Pulled the sensors and the passenger one was covered In black gunk. Drivers one fairly clean

Well an update to this story....I drove the car to Wales on Friday, towing for part of the journey (250 miles) and all seemed well.

if it's throwing out lots of smoke i would say it's over fueling would would correlate with the sensor reading being high ,just because you have changed them doesn't mean they haven't failed I"ve had it at work a load of electronic valves get delivered and one or two don't function properly L322 2008 vogue

But what is the correct value that it should be ? I.e. should it be 40, and the other is lower, or should it be 7 and the other higher ?
That to me would have me looking at throttle bodies ( does it have 2 ? ) V8 or else ... |

The sensors are the same on both sides so I tried swapping them over to see if the fault also moved from one to the other but it didn't
